Last week, LICA’s Chairman of the Board Jim Pratt and Director of Marketing Lynn Barker were pleased to attend the Long Island Economic Survey & Opinion Poll breakfast, hosted by LICA member AVZ in conjunction with Long Island Business News. LICA was a co-sponsor of the event and was pleased to welcome several guests to join us at our table, including Anthony Macagnone of the New England Regional Council of Carpenters, Mike Bourgal of Teamsters Local 282 and Greg and Nathan Perricone of LICA member Safety Consulting & Compliance Corp. The survey, now celebrating its 25th year, offers a glimpse into the year ahead for local Long Island businesses and organizations. AVZ spends months capturing results and opinions on a variety of topics ranging from confidence in the Long Island Economy (which is currently rated as a 7.2 (out of 10), up from 6.7 last year, but just a hair below the national rating of 7.5) to projected revenue increases/decreases, employee turnover and more.

This year’s event was highlighted by a discussion with four prestigious panelists from the healthcare, education, business/economics and tourism sectors who shared their experience, insight and opinions on a variety of important issues, all with various economic impacts: Martin Cantor, director of the Long Island Center for Socioeconomic Policy; Dr. Michael Grosso, senior vice president for medical affairs at Huntington Hospital; Kristen Jarnagin, president and CEO of Discover Long Island; and Christine Riordan, president of Adelphi University. To view a copy of the survey and opinion poll results, click here
