For eligible voters living in the Carlls River, Connetquot River and Forge River areas (specifically those in zip codes 11703, 11704, 11739, 11798 & 11950), the passage of Ballot Proposal #1 on January 22 will enable Suffolk County to take advantage of a one-time-only opportunity to utilize millions of dollars in federal grant money and connect nearly 7,700 homes to sewers (or install new nitrogen-reducing septic systems) thereby reducing excessive nitrogen discharge and improving Long Island’s waterways, which will help preserve our quality of life and ensure clean water and a sustainable future for our Island.

This multi-million dollar initiative will also provide substantial work for members of the heavy construction industry for years to come, as this project is expected to serve as a model and pre-cursor for additional sewer expansion projects. Therefore, LICA urges all members, employees, friends and families who are eligible to vote to support clean water, support our economy and support this important initiative by VOTING YES TODAYon Ballot Proposal 1.
