The concerted efforts of LICA and our labor partners hit the road last week. The joint forces of the Public Works Alliance towed a very visible sign, requesting more state aid, to the Governor at a recent local appearance. As we go to press, LICA is pleased to report that our efforts have not been in vain. The Governor’s administration has heard our pleas and has been very responsive. Senate Majority Leader John Flanagan has reiterated his resolve to continue his fight to protect our Island’s infrastructure, and he looks forward to sharing his views when he addresses our members at the LICA Annual Dinner on March 10th. With these latest developments, we are hopeful that the concerns we raised about sufficient funding to properly serve the needs of the 2.7 million Long Islanders who travel our roads and bridges daily will be addressed. Stay tuned for more information in our upcoming e-grams and be sure to check the LICA website ( for the latest news, photos and highlights.
