award.pngLt. Governor Hochul Accepts LICA Award for LIREDC

LICA and our guests were pleased to welcome Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul to our Annual Dinner event this past Thursday at the North Ritz Club in Syosset. The Lt. Governor, who serves as Chair of all New York Regional Economic Development Councils, joined us to accept the LICA 2016 Partnership Award on behalf of the Long Island Regional Economic Development Council (LIREDC). This award was given to the LIREDC in recognition of their efforts and success in winning funding for critical projects that will help ensure future economic growth for our region. In the first five rounds of these state-wide competitions, the LIREDC has “won” four out of five times, earning a total of $425 million dollars for 468 various projects. Many of the winning proposals include heavy construction and other infrastructure-based work such as sewers and parking garages, which should benefit our industry. LICA was pleased to also recognize several key individuals within the LIREDC organization whose hard work and dedication have made this success possible: Kevin Law and Stuart Rabinowitz, LIREDC Co-Chairs; Desmond Ryan and Jim Morgo, LIREDC Infrastructure Committee Workgroup Co-Chairs; Cara Longworth, ESD Regional Director, Denise Zani, ESD Project Manager and Brian Scripture, ESD Economic Development Specialist.
