nysdot_long.png

New York State Transportation Commissioner Matthew Driscoll and his senior staff met with nearly forty contractors at last Tuesday’s Downstate Partnering meeting, held at the offices of the General Contractors Association (GCA). Among the DOT officials present were Chief of Staff Cathy Calhoun, Chief Engineer Wahid Albert, Long Island Regional Director Joe Brown and Long Island Construction Engineer Craig Ruyle.

Following Commissioner Driscoll’s opening remarks regarding his perspective of the department and several major projects now underway in the downstate region, he graciously engaged in an open dialogue on a variety of issues. Of particular interest was the evaluation process for Design/Build and Best Value procurement programs, DBE and MWBE program goal setting and capacity concerns, the status of Section 100 changes, local hiring requirements and 3-D modeling.

Drawing the greatest attention was the release of letting programs for Regions 9 (lower Hudson Valley), 10 (Long Island), and 11 (New York City). Please click here to view the anticipated projects for Region 10.
