In January, Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth (D) announced that, after decades of public service, she will retire and not seek re-election this fall. Following that news, Wayne Wink, a longtime colleague of Bosworth and current North Hempstead Town Clerk (as well as former county legislator) announced his intention to run as the democratic candidate for her position in the upcoming election later this year. As such, LICA invited Wink to speak to members of our board at the recent April board meeting, giving Wink the opportunity to express his views and priorities on issues related to local infrastructure and economic recovery. Newsday reported in March that the Republican challenger for the Supervisor’s position will be Jennifer DeSena, a registered Democrat who has not previously run for public office.

During that same meeting, the board also heard from Joe Brown, SCDPW Commissioner, who spoke about upcoming county public works projects. We appreciate both men taking the time to speak with our board members and look forward to maintaining an open dialogue with all local candidates, elected leaders and DPW officials.
