mta_circle.pngLICA Joins Call To Prioritize/Relocate / Electrify Yaphank LIRR

Last week, LICA joined fellow industry advocates from the LIA (Long Island Association), LIBI (Long Island Builders Institute), ABLI (Association for a Better Long Island) and HIA-LI (Hauppauge Industrial Association) to call on the MTA to prioritize the relocation of the LIRR Yaphank train station and include funding for the simultaneous electrification (or implementation of a new battery powered technology). With MTA approval and funding, the project should be able to proceed immediately, as the necessary feasibility study has already been completed. The request is driven by the need to better serve communities on the East End of Long Island, increase access to Brookhaven National Laboratory and stimulate the regional economy.
