Last Wednesday, Governor Cuomo stood in the West Bathhouse of Jones Beach to announce $8.8 million in new improvements to enhance Jones Beach State Park. These improvements will include reopening the historic Marine Dining Room which will soon be dubbed “The Landing at Jones Beach”. A new 1.7 acre site will serve as an East Games Area and will include activities such as shuffle board and bocce ball. Further enhancing the East Games Area will be the East Mall Market project (project #D005004/JB 2016-019) which was awarded to LICA member Scalamandre Construction. As the winner of the $19.957 million best value contract, the 7,700 square foot concession building will boast 6,100 square feet of terraced boardwalk as well as new landscaping and lighting. With a required completion date of May 2018, Scalamandre is hoping to break ground shortly so they can begin work to deliver another large project within a condensed timeframe. LICA will follow the progress of this project in the months ahead. Lastly, Cuomo’s additional $8.8 million in Jones Beach upgrades will include additional gateway monuments with improved and illuminated “Welcome to Jones Beach” signage.
