LICA Presents Infrastructure Issues To LIMBA MembersLICA Presents Infrastructure Issues To LIMBA Members

Last week, LICA Executive Director Marc Herbst served as the special guest speaker at this month’s LIMBA (Long Island Metro Business Action) meeting. Herbst provided attendees with an overview of LICA, our member firms and our industry’s impact on the economy. He also noted some of the major projects our members have worked on this past year. More importantly, he gave the group a “lesson” in state funding and transportation spending. Many attendees were shocked to learn how little of the overall state budget is dedicated to transportation compared to other sectors, considering the critical role infrastructure plays in our daily lives. A lively question and answer period followed his presentation with questions ranging from asphalt technology and related environmental issues, to hot button topics such as Route 347 and the Oakdale merge. Herbst urged all attendees to reach out to local elected officials and state legislators to express their support for a new, well-funded capital program and the need to find sustainable revenue streams for Long Island’s infrastructure moving forward. We wish to thank LIMBA for the opportunity to bring these important issues to the attention of their members.
