  • More than 250 emails urging support for local infrastructure funding have been sent to state and local leaders as a result of LICA’s www.fixthisLIroad.com campaign which is also pressing for funding to finish Rt. 347 (www.Fix347.com).

  • General Contractors Association (GCANY) sent a letter strongly opposing the proposed changes to the MWBE program outlined in Part Q of the budget which could have dramatic effects for our entire industry. LICA supports the GCA efforts and signed a group letter of support stating similar requests. We continue to participate in dialogue with industry associates and monitor this important issue.

  • Last week, NYSDOT Executive Deputy Commissioner and CFO Ron Epstein gave a presentation on the proposed LI Sound Crossing. With several options being considered for the construction and location of the crossing, they hope the RFEIs (which are due by April 2) will offer some unique proposals with less costly solutions than those outlined in the initial feasibility study. After reviewing the RFEIs, Ron anticipates the DOT will issue an official RFP for the project within the next few months. Stay tuned…
