NYRIC_logo.pngHouse Rep. Hakeem Jeffries Chats With NYRIC On Infrastructure Issues

Marc Herbst, in his role as president of the New York Roadway and Infrastructure Coalition (NYRIC), moderated a zoom conversation with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) on Monday, September 27. The event was part of NYRIC’s ongoing series of discussions with members of New York’s Congressional Delegation. “Hoping to hit it out of the park on Thursday” was Rep. Jeffries’ comment about the passage of the all-important bipartisan infrastructure bill and the Build Back Better Act. With the Congressional baseball game looming on Wednesday night, Rep. Jeffries said that there are presently no contingency plans in place, should the bills fail to get the votes. There is a vehicle to extend current funding if needed, but he and the rest of the Democratic Caucus are counting on the bill’s passage through the House and onto the President’s desk. Rep. Jeffries recommended that our members continue to contact the more ‘centrist’ Republicans representatives from New York to urge them to vote ‘aye’ on this important legislation.
