LICA Lady Liberty Cruise: Picture Perfect
Neither clouds nor a few brief sprinkles could dampen the spirits on those on board the LICA Lady Liberty dinner cruise last week! All those who attended enjoyed delicious hors d’oeuvres, drinks, dinner/dessert buffets and a great DJ who kept the crowd dancing on the top deck while enjoying beautiful views. Between songs, the DJ would serve as tour guide, pointing out some of the many interesting landmarks and lighthouses we passed along the way. We saw some of Long Island’s gold coast waterfront mansions, then sailed beneath several iconic New York bridges and finally alongside the spectacular Manhattan skyline with views of the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and (most of) the Freedom Tower. Our final destination - the Statue of Liberty - did not disappoint. The brightly lit statue seemed to make the surrounding clouds glow with a special aura. It was truly a sight to see. Many native New Yorkers had never seen Lady Liberty from this vantage point, and it should not be missed! It was the perfect highlight to a great evening. The return trip allowed guests to continue dancing while enjoying more views of the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines as well as those of several smaller Islands, from Governor’s Island to Randall’s Island and Roosevelt Island.
