Recently, commentary from the leaders of LICA have been featured in local news media. Last week, an article by LICA Chairman Jim Pratt entitled “Environmental Construction a driving force on Long Island” was featured in Long Island Business News. The article speaks to how infrastructure projects can help lead us out of the current economic downturn but also highlights how many of these critical construction projects are supporting important environmental initiatives as well. Then, in honor of National Work Zone Awareness week which took place last week, the Long Island Press published a piece by LICA Executive Director Marc Herbst about safety on the Southern State Parkway -known to many as the infamous “Blood Alley”- and how we are supporting a new bill to create a “Highway Safety Corridor” to help make it safer.
