During a recent local “Rebuild NY Now” rally and news conference, LICA Executive Director Marc Herbst underscored the current infrastructure crisis on Long Island and criticized Albany’s indifferent response to the state of our roads and bridges, as evidenced by the lack of funding for our region in the proposed state budget. Together, Herbst and the many local officials who joined him, called on the public to make their voices heard and demand that the proposed state budget be amended to include far more dollars for Long Island’s roads and bridges.

Elected officials who attended the rally included: Riverhead Highway Super Superintendent George Woodson,  Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Dan Losquardo, Assemblyman Charles Lavine, Suffolk County Comptroller John M. Kennedy, Jr.,  State Senator Jack Martins, Southampton Highway Superintendent Alex Gregor, Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos, and State Senator Phil Boyle.

For more detail about the rally, see the official Press Release.

The rally was a part of the statewide campaign by “Rebuild NY Now” (www.rebuildnynow.org) which seeks to promote investment in New York’s extensive road and bridge system, which is now in need of significant repair.
