Long Island Contractors’ Association Executive Director Marc Herbst On Governor Hochul State Of The State Address
“We applaud and congratulate Governor Hochul on her first State of the State address. As the Governor has made clear today, a strong commitment to infrastructure investment is critical to ushering New York through this ongoing recovery. We are lucky to have her leading the way.
We especially applaud her intention to introduce a robust 5-year capital transportation plan to enhance safety, improve conditions, and promote climate smart priorities across New York and on Long Island. Her commitments include improvements to the LIRR, new investments in critical road, bridge and highway spending, and, critically to so many Long Island commuters, reconfiguration of the Oakdale Merge to improve capacity and commence environmental review. Reconfiguration of the Oakdale Merge has been a long-term priority of LICA and we are thankful to the Governor to see it addressed and funded to be better and safer.
We look forward to continuing to work with Governor Hochul on these and other critical issues to help New York “build back better.”
