Long Island, NY – Today, Marc Herbst, Executive Director of the Long Island Contractors’ Association was named President of the New York Roadway and Infrastructure Coalition (NYRIC). NYRIC is a statewide organization dedicated to sustained funding for New York State’s infrastructure. Herbst was elected as President at today’s reorganizational meeting, replacing outgoing President Ross Pepe, who nominated Herbst for the role. Pepe, President of the Construction Industry Council of Westchester and Hudson Valley, Inc. was a founding member of NYRIC and served as president since January, 2018. Felice Farber of the General Contractors Association of New York (GCA) was also re-elected as NYRIC’s Treasurer. NYRIC has long been a champion of increasing productivity for safer, more efficient modes of transportation as well as enhancing improvements to roads, bridges, and mass transit systems throughout the state.

Herbst noted “Ross Pepe has been a warrior in this industry for decades. I am incredibly honored to have been nominated by him, and certainly, he is leaving large shoes to fill. He has been a mentor to me for nearly 30 years and I welcome his continued guidance and advice. It will be my honor to lead NYRIC in our critical mission to increase funding for our transportation infrastructure.”

“As we seek to recover economically from COVID-19, it is more important than ever that we adequately fund, maintain and enhance our highway, bridge and transit systems to ensure their continued safety, efficiency and accessibility for all.” said Marc Herbst, President of NYRIC and Executive Director of LICA.

Herbst will remain in his position with LICA while simultaneously serving as NYRIC’s President.
