Introducing FOREWomen

Mission statement:

“To advocate for and empower women in the infrastructure sector by promoting and fostering professional development and collaborative networks that enhance the opportunities and visibility of women in our industry.”

Founder Jaime Franchi – Director of Communications and Government Relations, Long Island Contractors’ Association

When I began my career in the heavy construction industry, I was often one of very few women in the room.  I founded FOREWomen LI to connect the women in the industry, knowing that together, our ideas, values and work can benefit not only each other, but the industry as a whole.

On January 30, 2025 LICA’s Director of Communications and Government Affairs successfully launched FOREWomen Long Island, LICA’s women in infrastructure networking group.

The event featured an outstanding panel of accomplished women, including BNL lab director JoAnne Hewett, Suffolk Deputy DPW Commissioner Leslie Kushner Mitchel, President of Our Rental Pumps Samantha Mack, and Assemblywoman Jodi Bennett Giglio, and moderated by the one and only Helena Williams.

The turnout was even better than expected and they were so engaged and excited to connect.

Special thanks to our sponsors: Bethpage FCU/Fourleaf, Haugland Group, LECET, and Scalamandre Construction.
